Somewhere we had a mention of round-nose Nosler Partitions. I thought I had a box or two of them around, and turns out I found them while re-organizing my loading bench. These are 300 grain .375's, but I also have a box of "semi-spitzer" 85 grain 6mm Partitions that I bought back in the 1970's.

The box:

The top bullet in the photo is of more recent production. Although not exactly pointy, it's not as rounded as the older bullet on the bottom. Also, the size and position of the relief groove is different, and the marks from the old screw-machine turning can be seen on the older bullet. Actually, the jacket/lead line at the tip looks a little more uniform on the old bullet.

I got a mess of .375 bullets from two different friends during the past year or so, since I started shooting and hunting with the .375 rifle. That's how I ended up with these 300 gr buffalo stompers.

Regards, Guy

Man, you were buying bullets in 1975, phew!!! I wasn't born until 1977! Those must have been the good old days when there were still dino's to hunt! Just kidding with ya buddy, thanks for the pictures! Scotty

Those must have been the good old days when there were still dino's to hunt!

Only on the West Coast. They were all gone from the Midwest by the early fifties.

Those old machine screw Nosler PT's look pretty cool.

Here are some pictures of my oldest PT's. They are 140gr 7mm bullets. I was sold them by the gunsmith who taught me to reload. I used a heavy charge of H870 and slayed just about everything with those bullets. I loved them to no end in my M70. I remember shooting them into alot of 1" boards stacked on top of one another (OAK) and was amazed how many boards it traveled through. I wanna say it was over 18" or more. Meaningless test, but I never had one stay inside a deer and I cannot remember a deer stepping out of his hooves with this bullet. I think he might have sold them to me for 5.00 a box and he had about 3.5 boxes of them, as he was moving out of his old shop and found these while packing stuff up. One of the best deals I ever got! What a relief that must have been! Scotty

Scotty,

That is a neat old box of bullets that you have there. It would slay a dinosaur (at least a little one).

I remember these. I have seen them around

1967 Nosler Zipedo Bullet Ad - New Concept in Design

I didn't remember the Zipedo bullets, must be getting old, I also didn't have a centerfire 22 in those years either. I have maybe 50+ Nosler PT from a little later. They have yellow and white boxes and the bullets all were machined in a lathe, they have the groves in them. I believe the box type you had was the first one then the yellow and white ones. I have of course the newer boxes but there was another box type in between. A pretty fine bullet for 1940's technolgy.

My local gun store (Frontier arms) Had a half box of Zipedos for sale a while back. 257 cal in 115 or 117 gr, not sure. I almost bout it for the yellow and white vintage box.

I always liked the old soldbase 45grn rn 22 hornet bullet. anyone have pics of bullet boxes with the Ashland OR address

Looks like that bullet worked as it should have. That is a good sized hog. Undoubtedly, he tested the bullet.
