Is there any simple fix for these sorry triggers short of replacement with an aftermarket trigger??? Don't want to spend alot of money but I want my .280 Rem to perform as I know it can...

TIA

If you have the Mark I (with the tang mounted safety) you can purchase a new sear (about $40) and then you'll have adjustability down to about 2lbs. I don't know if this fixes the grit/creep, but I can't imagine it would make it worse. The replacement sear is supposed to be adjustable, which would likely allow engagement adjustment, as well. I think it's from Riflebasix, but don't quote me.

Back in the day when we were shooting the tang-safety Ruger M77 there was a common procedure for helping the trigger pull involving cutting a coil off the trigger spring. I expect you may find it on the Internet with a search.

I remember reading it in a Rifle magazine as well.
