I was out of town yesterday & stopped at a gunshop. They had RWS primers, size Large Rifle. I did not see magnum on them, there was a #5341, which might be a lot#.

Are these good primers.

BTW, they came in boxes of 250 @ $10.00 a box.

I have never used them but they might be worth a try.

I would not hesitate to use RWS primers, provided they showed no evidence of improper storage. Work up loads from a minimum as per usual.

I have not used the large rifle ones but I have used their primers for my 50bmg and they are excellent. I would buy them and use them in other loadings (LR/SR/LP/SP) if I found them for sale.

The # 5341 is not a lot# but it means that they are standard LR primers. The RWS LR magnum primers are indicated as 5333.

As far as I know quality is OK but they are rather expensive on this side of the ocean. In Germany you will have to pay 20-25% more for the RWS 5341 than for Federal Gold medal and CCI Benchrest. Thats why I always use Federal primers .

Welcome to the forum, glad you are here.
Thank you for the explanation on the RWS primers.

Thanks , wasn't sure about the number.

Concerning prices, I checked with Midway & the price of CCI large primers
even though they don't have any is $2.99 per hundred when bought in the ten box pack, if only they had them. So for 250 primers that would be
right at $7.50. These are $10.00, so yes higher, but avail.
I guess I will try some, I just did not want to buy a bad product just because it is available.

Thanks again

I have used them while stationed in Germany. They do just fine like most European products.

See:

Lapua
VihtaVouri
Norma
Nobel etc.

All top of the line stuff!

I will pay to ship what are you asking the 5341 primers?????

Jeff

Very mild Primer........but teamed up with Palma Match Brass. and IMR 4895 in the 308 win with the 155 SMK.........won a few matches with this primer in the 308 Win.

I went ahead and picked up 6 boxes (250 per box) of the RWS Large rifle & 8 boxes (100 per box) of CCT small rifle for $70.00 out the door, which was a combined price of $3.05 per hundred. I am happy with that.
