Okay I found a Sako Classic in .280 and I am really pondering the purchasing of it. The wood is absolutely gorgeous and the wood, blueing, etc.. is in great shape. No dings, scratches, etc..

I know nothing about Sako's except for what I found last night on the web.

Seems like the .280 is a very rare chambering for them. It is an older one ( late 80's I believe), but if anyone has any insight to it I would greatly appreciate it. I forgot to take a pic of her last night so I don't have the serial number

And the price is south of 900, by a buck , but there is negotiating room I believe... oh and it is a floorplate model, not detach magazine.

Thanks in advance,

Pat

Hi Pat, I am sorry as I do not know much about how rare it would be but Sako make a great product.
Also you can't go wrong with a 280 Rem they are a real good caliber.
If it is in nice shape price isn't bad either

Blessings,
Dan

That would be a great rifle to have; it will stand you in good stead.

I've got a Sako 75 in 280. It is the most accurate rifle I have ever had. Loves 140 Accubonds with 58 gns H4831. The going price fork used Sako's in my area is typically $800.00 to $1000.00.

Well it was too good to be true boys.... The barrel was an aftermarket of unknown origin and round count. The bolt face had quite a bit of brass residue and the bore was really dirty and the lands were very very green/blue. I really don't have the moolah to plunk 900 or 800 down to turn around and rebarrel. Plus the stock wasn't original, albeit it was beautifull.

But for you boys, it was at the Cabelas in La Vista NE. Serial number was 511xxx.
