Sako L691 Safari Deluxe 416 Rem Mag

Well, I bought it:) it turns out that it's part of an estate sale, the owner passed away at the age of 47, the rifle is 16 years old and has only 9 rounds through it. I'm picking it up this weekend, they are including a box of Remington loaded swif aframe as well, Lou:)

Very cool Lou! Dang, that is a hitter! Can't wait to see some more pictures of it.

Thanks everyone :) ..I wasn't planning on this believe me, but it was love at first site when I saw/held this rifle yesterday, and don't know if I'll ever come across a rifle like this again and in as new condition as well, there's not a flaw on this baby. As a matter of fact, the estate also has another 416 rem mag, a Sako M995 with a synthetic stock for $850 also Magna ported as well, this one has been to Africa and has been used, I well take a picture of this one for you to see beside the one I have purchased. Both were Magna ported in the USA, in total the estate included just shy of 50 rifles/shot guns.

I most likely won't scope the .416 rem mag until the new year, I well most likely top it off with a Leupold VX-3 in a low power variable. Any recommendations?

Thanks, now I need to win the Lottery so I can go to Africa, and maybe take some of you guys with me 8)

Lou

Congrats Lou glad ya got it as it looked NIB and only 9 rounds down it is amazing! Sure hope it's a shooter for ya as my FFL has a Lotta magna ported rifles and he loves them! Z6 Swarovski would work well :). http://mobile.eurooptic.com/swarovski-z ... 59156.aspx
This is a scope that could work well on any big bore
I was thinking Zeiss HD5 2-10x42 Zplex (maybe too much scope?) or going Leupold VX3 1.75-6x32 for this rifle. :?

look around here and think about an Near Manufacturing alpha Hunter mount with a Z6 setting in it! remember ya won the Lottery and smoking big fat Cuban cigars! Walking behind Yohan Calitz
I had to go back and look again at the pictures which for me is dangerous! SWEET!!

Near Alpha Mount on my 270 Lazermark

I think you'd do well with any of the Leupolds you mentioned Lou. Another pretty cool option is the long tubed Leupold FX 3X. Might be a perfect scope set up with a Post and Duplex or German #4. Chance are you'll be hunting big stuff with the rifle so you won't need the magnification and the sheer ruggedness of a fixed power scope would be nice. I also really like the VX6 1-6 as well if you wanna use a variable.

Thanks Scotty, but after giving it much more thought, I cancelled the deal pal, and got my deposit refunded. It would have been nice to have the rifle, but I really don't need it, and I'm very content with the .375 H&H. On the flip side, if I wasn't going to Newfoundland for moose in 6 weeks from now and dropping 4K, I most likely would have bought it :?

Lou :)
