A friend of my son had brought me his rifle to fix yesterday and after doing some internet cruising I am only coming up with some rather bad news.

He has a M995 in 270 and the stock cracked. It actually cracked pretty bad in one spot and just a small crack in another. I can't really find a stock to replace this that is cost effective for him.

Anyone here know of anything :?:

My brother had this happen with his 7mm RM and Sako replaced the stock for free hopefully you could get them to do the same. His cracked by the back guard screw straight up and down. The other option is a McMillan but it is pricey.

Send it back to Sako for replacement or a McMillan.

That is the Achilles heel of the M995. Although I do not want to i am thinking of putting a brake on my TRG-S in 30-378.

For those not familiar with the M995 take a look here on page 16 http://www.sako.fi/pdf/manuals/SakoTRG-S.pdf

See the receiver? No recoil lug. The lug is very small and is a apart of the stock! That configuration induces the recoil to wreaks havoc on the stock.

This is how far I've gotten on this.
Sako does not handle any warranty issues or even customer pay stocks for this model any longer. They refer all stock issues with this rifle to Brownells...and they do in fact have new stocks.

The problem :?: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
It is over $500 dollars. That is absolutely incredible. The stock itself is a total piece of garbage hence being in this position to begin with. Then on top of that they want 500.......a half of a thousand dollars for a synthetic stock. Not just any synthetic stock but that total POS stock!

I'm going to have to explore other options. Even look at making one from a blank of wood.
