Dan (sask boy) will not be posting for a few days. He has a health issue that cropped up, necessitating hospitalization and tests. He encountered some problems with his 35 Whelen, however. He asked that the members of this forum be notified that he will be looking forward to posting again shortly.

Hope he's doing better and gets on the mend soon. Sounds like his Whelen needs him right now! If you can Mike, pass on our thoughts and prayers.
David

Get well soon Dan! Let us know when you feel better.

Thank you for letting us know Mike.

Hi Guys in the famous words of someone "I AM BACK"
Well it is pretty amazing had 2 stints put in on Friday and Saturday (yesterday) I was home from the hospital.
Modern medicine is something, I can not say enough how blessed I am to live in a city that is very well know for its Cardiology department. A young doc worked on me had several years training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and came to Regina to raise his family.
Well I do have some other news my 35 Whelen is giving me a little grief :( as I am having misfires with it.
Mike & I thought the problem was solved but I should have taken it back out to test when I was up there. Oh well I know that Corlane will get it working just like new or yeah it is new
I want to thank you guys for the prayers and just being a great group of on line friends :) Or come to think of it Mike has mentioned more than once he would like to become a lefty (I wonder)

Blessings,
Dan

Mike has mentioned what???? Have I been slandered?

Hi Jake, that is correct it happened while I was breaking it in up in Dawson Creek took it back and they replaced the firing pin spring and tested it twice at the shop. I never took it back out to the range up there thinking it was repaired and then when I took it out last Monday to finish breaking it in :) it did the same thing. I will fire 2 or 3 times and then seems fire pin does not strike with the same force and misfires :(
I just finished sending off a email to Corlane to see what can be done.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Glad you are back and feeling better.

Are you seating the primers deep enough into the primer pocket?
What kind of primers are you using and how are you seating them?

glad you're getting better!

A misfire will definitely let you know how you bench technique is! :)

I have only fired factory ammo through the rifle as is still in the break in stage :)
I use a RCBS hand priming tool for reloading and I have never encountered a misfire, likely by good fortune than anything else.

Blessings,
Dan
