Sask Boy's Range Day 2012 07 23

Dan,

Great shooting. Glad it is all working out for you.

JD338

It looks like it's showing promise Dan. I would skip cleaning for a bit and see if the first shot of each group lands in the group with the others.

I don't think I've ever had a custom barrel from the leading makers not be broken in by 20 rounds. 30 rounds should be more than enough. I've had a few totally quit fouling in under 5 rounds. I think more people wear out barrels cleaning them than actually shooting them. It seems like more and more people are skipping break in or shooting more rounds between cleanings. Basically all that break in is doing is cleaning the vaporized copper from the rough edges on a new throat.

I didn't break in my .284win so we will see how it goes when I clean it after the first 10 rounds and head back out to shoot.

Keep up the good work.

Dan, looks good. I finally have my scope mounted and have about 15 rounds through her also with some factory stuff. I am loading up some test rounds to chrono next week. We'll see how it compares to the others.

You guys sure are making those Whelen's look good!

What are you waiting for?

They just look good, they work!

What? David doesn't have a Whelen to shoot? Poor boy! Imagine what that 225 grain Partition would do at 500 yards with his test! And it would be no problem getting accuracy since it would be a Whelen!

It must be tough not being in the club  but there is a simple cure for that and with Scotties help and knowledge of GB we will have a great club soon
Just give in people the hunting world would be a better place if everyone owned a 35 Whelen

Blessings,
Dan

nvbroncrider, You are forgiven my son but there will be a day when you will see the light of the 35 Whelen

Blessings,
Dan

Can't Dan I joined the dark side and got a mini-Whelen!

Your going to have a good time with yours Jake. I am looking forward to your load work with that rifle. It will be hard to beat your 338-06 Improved. I have a feeling it will do some very nice work. Plus, I know you are going to set it up right.

Dan, David can only resist for so long..

I hope I set it up right. It's a Winchester after all. A Remington is easy you have 1000's of parts to swap out. I hope it turns out all right. I guess only time will tell.
