savage 340 C reloading question

hi,,,just picked up a savage 340 C in 30-30 and started reloading for it this morning,,,i went by noslers book on their CAOL of 2.550" for their 125 grain bt,,,man that bullet looks like it is seated deep in that case,,,i measured the magazine (2.630") and made a dummy at 2.620" just so it fits in the magazine,,,is that the right aol in noslers book, and is my round SAFE to fire,,,thanks,,,all help appreciated,,, :grin: :grin: :grin:
 
The COL for 30-30 handloads listed by most reloading manuals and guides is to permit cycling through a lever action. With a box magazine, and in a bolt rifle, this restriction no longer applies. The 340 Savage (and 320 Stevens) were neat little rifles.

The current Nosler guide states in the "Technical Information" section:

"For rifles without tubular magazines, it is safe to use our 165-grain bullets with this data. For lighter bullets, please refer to the 30-30 Winchester data in the handgun section."
