Savage 99 in 250-3000 help

YESSIR!
We ended up shooting a 90 gr Sierra BTHP Gameking over 37 grs of H380.
It would shoot in the .75 inch area at 100 yards.
Last week my buddy and I were hunting stands that were about 1/2 mile apart in a CRP field.About 5:15 PM I heard a "crack" followed by a "thud."
About a minute later I heard another "crack" followed by another "thud"
Seems a doe appeared at what he "guesses" at 125 yards.1st shot was a bit low,through the very bottom of her chest cavity,right behind the shoulder.
It wasn't a fatal hit.She mule kicked and walked a dew yards then stopped.
The second shot all he could see was her head and neck.She dropped in her tracks at the second shot.
I walked over and helped him find her,when he told me his range estimate I asked what he'd been smoking?I looked back at the stand and guessed 175 yards.
I pulled out a Nikon range finder and took a reading,197 yards to the stand where she fell.
Grandma's ol 99 is still putting meat in the freezer!

That'll do :grin: I dont need another but I keep thinking about a new Savage in 250. Cant quite bring myself to trade the old Mauser in though. CL
