Bullet,
i love seeing and reading your posts in the reloading forum. Your savage 300 win seems to shoot the lights out of everything and with everything you put done the barrel. I am really looking hard at a savage model 16 and or a model 10 predator. I just can't seem to decide which one. I like the fact that the model 10 has 2 more inches of barrel but the weight of it throws me a little. Have you done any mods to your 300 win or has it just been that accurate out of the box? If your 116 shoots like it does with everything i might just have to buy a model 16 in a 260 Rem. Any comment would be welcomed thanks

Stay away from Savage rifles, they will only cost you money! Pretty soon you'll be buying them up just to screw on new barrels. I'm currently down to four short actions and at one time I had six total rifles and 12 different barrels.

they must be shooters then, ans sounds like a good temptation to have. maybe i better a have a long and short action.. haha the wife would shoot me with it! just kidding

My 2 cents, never met anybody who bought the savages to do anything but praise them. Shoot great, function flawless. And having a number of barrels for options I think is great, saves room in the safe. As to witch one to buy one can only dicide that him self after weighing his option and being honest to his wants and needs.

There was a time where all my guns were savage with the exception of my "Someday Africa" rifle.

223, 22-250, 7mm rem mag, and a Custom 116 LSS in 300 rum with my name on the bolt from the Custom shop. I had my connection there build it for me.

Overall the easiest work up of any rifles I ever owned. Once or twice out in the range and I was done with workup. Looking at my records reveals that I have owned no less than 2 dozen Savages of various configurations and none were a problem.

Buy the one you like the most. If the configuration proves to be wrong then get a second one. They are not very expensive.

I am not bullet, but having owned a .260 Model 10 Predator and I still own a 116 in 30/06, if I were to buy another it would be a 16 in .260. My model 10 Predator weighed around 11lbs scoped I think.

My 116 is an older model and I had to bed it, but once I did it shoots pretty much everything from good to great.

My .243 is a Savage 12 low profile. Bone stock, not even bedded. Has shot every bullet I have ever tried with it under 1 MOA with very little work.

I built a 280 AI on a savage 110 that shoot equally as nice. One nice thing about the savage rifles is that a guy can build them himself, and they are easy to work on. Can't go wrong with them IMO.

I've got one Savage locked in the safe too.
110 Tactical in 7 Rem Mag.
Made a few minor adjustments on the trigger and that's all.

RL22 and 139 Hornady BTSPs as well as RL22 and 160 ABs = 1/2 MOA all day.
The thing shoots so well it's almost boring

Google the savage shooters forum, a plethora of info there.

...6.5X284 is same price...

thats true, and yes the 6.5x284 would be sweet but i have the 260 reloading gear and have been loading it for a couple years, don't have the funds to get new dies and brass and such. You shouldn't temp me with such things, it crosses my mind for more speed on the 6.5.
