I was @ Scheels in Reno and I wanted to check out the axiom stocks that legacy has been putting on howas action as there is one available for model 700s as well so I look up and they have a package with the SS action Camo dipped axiom stock and Christensen arms wrapped barrel! And the price I thought was pretty good 1100. Since they get around 8-9 for that rifle without the wrap and it cost you or I 625 to get it wrapped if not more when you add in shipping etc.

I asked the guy if it was something Scheels had done or if Legacy was doing them surprise never got a straight answer.

SO now I think I have found my next toy and I think that is a great price as that stock runs 300ish and the barrel wrap job is 6-7ish not a 700 but alot cheaper than I can build one for and they have a fair following what do you guys think?

Only issue I have is deciding on a caliber

That's the gun Les Johnson on Predator Qwest is shooting coyotes with in 204 ruger. Of course he is sponsored by Howa and Hornady, so I would be happy to advertise it also every chance I got along with Benelli shotguns. One thing for certain, that guy can call coyotes and I enjoy watching his show. I handled that model about two years ago. My impression was it was pretty wild looking and heavy. I did like the digital snow camo pattern. You can't go wrong with either caliber or both in my case

So after some major investigation I got ahold of one of the Legacy sales reps and they told me there were 30 or so done up for an international order that got cancelled so scheels bought them all with axiom stocks. Unfortunately he said they were all 223

So I am really thinking hard about doing a 223 I know it aint the barn burner the 22.250 is but with lighter bullets it can move but how and what bulet will the gun like also though really how often would I take a hot over 300 yds the 223 can do that

With a 200 yard zero and a warm 50-55 grain bullet with a bc around .240, the 223 will shoot just over an inch high at 100 and 6 inches low at 300. With a 3" kill zone, you will have a point blank range of approximately 260 yards. If you want a really good shooter in CZ, I've got one listed in the classifieds section. The weight and recoil system of the howa will probably have very little barrel jump shooting really small stuff but I'm not sure it will be quite as accurate.

if I don't get this howa I will get a 700 probably in 204 as I already have ammo and components for the 204

I have had 3 204's. It is a great little caliber and super fast. It does shed it's power rather quickly though.

Sheds the living daylights out of prairie dogs too! Found two "halves" of a prairie dog 12 feet apart as witnessed by Anetelope Sniper one day. 32 V-max are something to behold! I have made hits ranging to 400 yards last time out before the season closed a couple months ago. On a coyote, 300 yards would be pushing it I'd think cuz that little bullet would have little energy on coyote, as POP said.
