"SCOOTER" My Savage 116FHSS 300Win Mag really likes a lot of different weight bullets and brands. Doing a little load work with different powders and the 208gr AMAX's this morning and it really shot good with RL-22. Looking forward to tweaking this load by playing with the OAL and shooting five shot groups. I like the velocity, the accuracy and I am under max. There is some real potential for this load being a long range load for me.

208gr AMAX's, Win Brass, CCI250 primers, RL-22 three shot group

Moving at 2848fps on average with an Extreme Spread of 14.06 and Devation of 7.07

That Savage is a gem Mike!

Yes, it is POP, and it has never had any group with any bullet or powder over 2" and that is cool. It shoots my good loads from 1/2" to 1/4". Going to be testing some more 220gr loads the Partition and Hawk RT. It will not make a difference what specific game I would want to hunt in North America. I have specific loads to fit any game. I just love this rifle. 165 for coyote, deer and hogs, 180 for Black bear, elk and 200gr or 208gr for reaching way out there and smacking deer, hogs, elk, black bear far off, and 220gr for Moose, and big bears. This truly is an all around cartridge and rifle. Yes it is as you say a gem.

Wow, it is zinging those AMAX's Mike. My 300 really likes RL22 also with 200gr bullets. Looking forward to seeing how the 300WBY responds to RL22 also. Scotty

Nice shooting bullet. With a group like that with the A-Max,I would stay with it. I've got a Savage 110 in 7mmMag cal. which will shoot good with almost any bullet. A little later on I want to try some Barnes 160 grain TSX for Deer. At present I'M shooting 150grain Win. Silvertips and Speer 175grain Mag Tip to Deer hunt with. In my opion,Savage makes a good rifle for the money.

7mm's Forever and a 30 cal. will "Slam Dunk UM"

just be careful when ya change lots of re-22, lot to lot varience runs from almost non-existant to attrocious.
RR

That was more of a problems a few years back than it is today. I have found RL-22 to be pretty stable from lot to lot these days.

Another beautiful group!!! You must get tired of those little tiny groups. I was disappointed however in your target selection.? Every thing that you show us is first cabin top quality, but a circle blacked in with a felt tip pen. I think there is hope for you yet., your targets at least look like mine.

Great shooting. !!!

Elkman, that is to funny indeed   I for got my targets and always keep some typing paper in my brief case in my truck so I drew me a target. Not the first time I forgot my targets and had to improvise. I shot the same 208gr Amax load today with a new lot of RL-22 and was 2854fps over 10 rounds just at tad more than the three shot group yesterday of 2848fps, but grouping is the same. This leaves me with a 165gr, 180gr, 200gr, 208gr loads all 1/2" or under an two of these are 1/4" and under. Got some 220gr Hawks coming in and Partitions and will develop an accurate load for from those bullets an then my 300Win Mag will be ready to rock in any hunting situation with game specific loads for what ever walks on the North American Continent. :)
