I am currently working on a Winchester 1895 in 405 Winchester. I am using RCBS dies and using the Hornady 300 grain Spitzer bullet.
Even though I know this will never be a high BC LR rig it is annoying the crap out of me. Accuracy is good at 2300 fps, even with the semi flattened tips.

Any tricks to this? Can I modify the seating stem? or do I buy other dies and if so what make?

I would guess the stem is drilled wide and shallow for cast bullets. If there is some meat left on the stem , could chuck it up in a lathe and bore it deeper to match the Hornady profile.

I drill out my pistol dies seater stems to seat on the shoulder of the SWC lead bullets.
I would put the stem in a vice and drill the seater stem a little deeper using a drill bit that is a little larger than the bullet tip. Make sure not to mess up where the o-gave contacts the stem.
