Sell me on a 35 Whelen!

Scotty,

My 350 RM is in the Remington 673--short mag and all. I really don't like the 225 grain bullets in that cartridge because of the platform and short mag box, and the 250 grain bullets are a lost cause. However, it shoots lights out with 200 grain TSX. Man, does it put game down quickly with that bullet launched at 2700+ fps. What would it be if I had a longer mag? Yeah, I may yet have to build one one a Model 70.

Yeah, I would like one on a 70 Mike. Not a .358 cartridge I really don't like. Figure a WSM box would work fine as well. It'll be a future project maybe, but still one I'd like to do I think.

I understand; I've got a great "wanter." So many cartridges; so little time.

Even though I have 0 need for a 350 Rem Mag, I believe I'd still like to own one built upon a M70 like action. With a mag box long enough to get a little length on the 250's and longer 225's I think it'd be a fun one.

FYI, I just purchased 6 x Wyatt magazine extensions for a Rem 7 (x4) and 700 (x2).
I want to machine the action and stock and then install/fit one of these in my Rem 763 (.350RM), so I can load two in the magazine, with 250grain Woodleigh PP's!
The Wyatt magazine in the M7/673, will give me another 0.100" of magazine length, on these rifles.
At present, I put one cartridge (250grain) in the magazine and then depress this cartridge, and chamber a second round by hand.

What I have done with my loaded ammo, is to seat the 250grn bullet, to be within 0.020" from the lands on the M-673.
This is longer than the 2.850" magazine length, but allows me to place just one of these cartridges in the magazine.

Hope that helps

Doh!
