Ì hawe`nt done any small game hunting for years, sold my side by side shotgun in 2000, and that was it. From then on I only hunted big game with big game rifles.
Couple of weeks ago me and a friend of mine went to Sweden to hunt. Among other things we got to hunt ducks. Wow ! After that the word hunting got a whole new meaning to me. Returning home i got 7 ducks with me (Got a deer also, but that`s another story). Our hunting host most kindly lent me his brand new semiauto, a Beretta Urika 12 gauge, what a shooter !

Next season I`m going to be serious on the duck hunting. But then I hawe to get me a shotgun. I thougt about a Remington semiauto, maybe with a camouflage pattern. 12 gauge of course.
But Remington also show some nice pumpguns in their catalogue. So I got a little confused...... I suspect some of You guys out there are experienced waterfoul hunters, so if You would be so kind as to shear your opinions ?

One a budget, I like the Remington 870 express. It's a good reliable gun, and for the money hard to beat. But If money is not an issue, some of the auto's are realllly nice. 8)

I'm not sure what you law's are like up there in Norway. If there were restrictions on the number of guns I could own, or if it was difficult to buy and sell guns, I'd also be more inclined toward a high quality auto.

The Beretta Urika is an excellent shotgun, as is the Remington 1100. Don't overlook the Winchester Super X3. It is a fine shotgun, as is the Browning Maxus. All work well. I confess that I prefer pump shotguns. With a minimum of practise, one can follow up as quickly with a pump as with a semi-auto. You are living in one of the finest periods for fine repeating shotguns. Best of luck choosing.

I hunt everything with a Remington Spartan 453 (Baikal).

I have a Remington 11-87 Super mag 12 ga 3.5" that I use for geese, turkey and coyotes at night.
I also have 3 870 pumps, they are tough!

I have a Benelli super black eagle 12ga. Wouldn't trade it for anything. The inertia driven action is exellent. It's very easy to clean and doesn't have alot of parts or O-rings.
I also have a couple of Rem 870 express's and a Benelli nova pump 12ga that I won in a raffle.
I haven't shot the Benelli pump yet. The Rem 870 can't be beat as far as reliability and pointing ability goes.

As for felt recoil from those heavy duck or goose loads a semi-auto gas operated gun will have much less felt recoil than an pump.

I shot a Browning O/U for many years and then unfortunately it was stolen so I replaced it with a a Benelli Super Black Eagle II. I forgot about the O/U real quick.
If it is not the best auto loader then it is awful close!

I have the same shotgun as JD does, it is a very versatile shotgun. I use mine for turkeys and predator hunting. I also have another 11-87 set up with a 4x Leupold and slug barrel. It is very accurate with Remington Buckhammers. I like Remington Shotguns alot. I used to have an 870, but it was stolen along time ago. Great gun though. Scotty

I learned on an 870 wingmaster, great pump shotgun and still working well after 35 years of use. But I love my benelli super black eagle! Best semi auto that I have ever seen or used.

Try taking my SBE II from my cold dead hands! I've owned and used alot of different Benelli shotguns for hunting goose, duck, dove, and deer. Used them when i was on a sporting clays team. And was on the range when we were testing them for use as the Corps new shotgun. The SBE II is a great all around shotgun except for the $1500-$1600 price tag. My local gunsmith loves his Baikal semi-auto 3.5 inch and $400 its hard to beat.
