Just pick her up from Jim Gruning shop after 2 years of hiatus. She now wears the 27" Pac-Nor Polygon 10 twist Super Match tube that Jim re-contoured to a medium Palma. This rifle had been with me on almost all of my hunt. She retained her original chambering and she will be deadly as ever.

Gentlemen, my Model 70 Laredo Long Range Hunter (LRH).

Jim test fired it with Black Hills Match cartridge and there's hardly no trace of brass expansion. This is attributed to Jim's very tight machining.

Ah, the return of an old friend is a source of great comfort for the certified gun crank. Good show, DF.

do you use this for match shooting or just long distance killing?

Strictly for long range killing. Two California Muleys succumb to this rifle at over 600 yards. That was with factory barrel and 180 grain Hornady BTSP. I'll have this rifle ready for this years season. I always wanted to shoot the 180 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip now that it has a new tube. I think it will be a deadly combination.

DF,

Nice! She has send it long written all over it!
As the saying goes, "Good things are worth waiting for".
Looking forward to your range report.

The BT will be great unless it walks out in front of you at 50 yards !

Very impressive. I'm certain she'll do that and more now that she has had the care and attention of a master craftsman.

Nice looking shooter there, DF!

What made you choose the polygonal rifling over the standard lands and grooves? Barrel life? Increased velocity?

DF- that rifle looks great buddy! Seems like it is ready to get back into the mix and get out to the hunting fields! Scotty

I have that same rifle, minus the upgrade.
TT, Winchester did such a terrible job with this rifle. This is supposed to be be their answer to Remington's Senderos but the workmanship was terrible. No wonder it was dropped in their line up soo soon. Bolt face look like moon crater, Only one lug were fully engaged and sloppy chambering. I was surprised with the accuracy of the rifle given the condition it was in when it left New Haven. The rifle was really hard on brass. No more than 3 firings, and they're toast.
Jim had to clean it all out.

Can't wait to see what it does DF. I imagine it will really be something to admire now. Scotty

That and the Berger 210 grain VLD. Also, I have around 500 rounds of 178 grain A-Max that just gathering dust.

The scope is the first generation MK4 Long range 4.5 X 14 X 50 Mil-Dot.

Had a 7mm Rem Mag in a Laredo also, but a friend wanted it bad.

I heard good things about the 7MM Mag chambering for this rifle also.
