Went to a range where we could shoot 300 yds. Now that is fun.
After shootin the 7-30 Contender for a while I went to the 280 Sako. That bugger will just plain shoot. I only shot 1 group at 100. No exageration the group was just under 1/4". Best group ever for me. So no sense staying at 100 yds. At 200 my shooting was not so stellar. Groups ran 1.25". Then on to 300 yds. For me that was a real eye opener. Now I took an antelope at 250 yds a few years ago with my 7mm. But had not shot at 300 yds since then and it is easy to forget how 300 yds can open up groups. It took 3 shots to figure out my TDS reticle and then the next 6 shots were a bit over 4". We did have a pretty good breeze but I really expected better off of the bench. May have to go back when I can and work on the 300 yd again. Its just too much fun shooting at, what I would consider as a Yooper  , longer ranges. Yep, loads of fun.
