Shot the Ultra at the range today. I wanted to simulate field conditions best I could. This is the 180 AccuBond in previous Posts submitted that is going 3370 fps.
It was somewhat windy with the wind directly in my face so it was shooting into the wind. Target at 275 yards ranged with the Range finder. Shooting Prone with the Harris Bi-pod and a good rear rest of lead shot bags. I have 4-shots inside 5" with 2- consecutive shots 1-3/4" center to center apart, one of them is within 1/2" of dead center of the bullseye. Overall I'm pleased, but must say I enjoyed this more than shooting on the bench with this rifle, need to do more of this, lots more fun. Anyway, the Elk in Colorado are in for trouble in 2-weeks!

Don,

Nice shooting! Keep at it and if you can, try to push out the distance as you get more profecient.
500 yds is closer than you think.

Keep at it Don. !!!

It is a different world out here with the long ranges and all.

Don,
It snowed here in Dillon today at 9,000 ft, should start them moving to lower elevations soon.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm anxious to keep shooting like this. I just found this place (range) close to where I live. The owner plans to extend it to 400 yards soon, can't wait till that happens.

balew 6254: Yeah I have been watching all the weather moving into Colorado, use to live there for 10-years, tis the season for all that weather mix to happen. For sure it should spark some winter migration.

Great shooting with the RUM! I've been using the 180's out of mine as well

Weather?? Wholly Bleep Batman! Camped out with a Buddy in a little 4man tent above Georgetown. Spent most of the day above 10K in a windy miserable blizzard. Trying to get him his first elk * a little scouting for me next season.

Great shooting.
I agree 500 yards isn't that far. I found myself shooting at 419 yards across a canyon at a 4 point mulie. I had confidernce in the 300 RUM and the 180gr. AccuBond to hit the vitals with the solid rest I had. Unfortunately the 35+++ mph gusting crosswind did me in but later that week I made the 423 yard shot on my antelope. The only way to have confidence is thru practice.
Good luck on your hunt
Greg

Thanks Greg,
I plan to continue shooting long range this winter, really want to give the 180 E-Tip a try in load development as well as long range testing. Have a feeling about that bullet for some reason. Been hearing good accuracy reports at long range.

Good luck with your 300RUM Don. That is probably the best choice for all around Western hunting there is, if you aren't a 338 nut like myself! Throw up some pictures, it is always helpful to see others groups. Scotty

I will as time permits throw up some pics.

Thanks,
Don
