Brought a couple classics out for the holidays at my Mother in laws farm. Took out my 300 sav M99 to make some brass and my broth. inlaw brought his Rem Md 81 takedown 35 rem. What a sweet little gun that was. Soft shooting but pretty hard hitting. Easy to hit a big rock out on the lake with fast follow up shots. Think I needs me one of those now, maybe in 300 sav. though. Anybody know if they ever made a Model 99 in 35 rem?

Polaris,

Not sure about the 35 Rem but Savage did offer the M99 in 358 Win.

Yep, seen those in the more modern 99s. If I lived in bear/moose country I'd have one by now. I'm looking for the nostalgia aspect of having a .35 rem in case I can't track down a decent Md 81.

Ha! When I saw the title of the thread I guessed it was a 99 in .300 Savage! Why ain't I in Vegas??

HMMM- you know where this is going......Get yourself a Model 99 in 250-3000 Savage Wish I had one. The 300 would be alright too! CL

That is certainly high praise from a knowledgeable individual. I know that I regret letting my one and only Model 99 slip away.

That would be fun too. I'm holding out for the Rem 722 in this calibre though. I like old guns better than the new stuff.

Yes, they did chamber the 358Win and my brother Marc has one and he will not sell it to me, but I wouldn't sell it to him if I owned it.
