Not just sight, but daily shooting with non-hunting pistols what do you usually shoot at distance wise? I read many shoot 7 yards. Why is that a norml for many? With the chance to shoot indoors today I'm taking several new pistols. When at home it's usually 25, 50 & 100 yards with everything except 9x19's. 357sig out to 100 is a laser.

I was on the Wisconsin National Guard pistol team years ago and all of our outdoor shooting was 25 and 50 with .22LR, centerfire (.38Spl), and .45ACP. That is what I got use to and have stayed with it. The indoor range that we had for winter shooting was limited to .22LR and 50'. My small game pistol, and old Browning Nomad, is sighted at 50'.

While I do not shoot my handguns as much as most people, I have typically shot mostly at 15, 25, and 50 yards, and when I was practicing IDPA, it was varied to each set up by the range master.
