I don't go out to the range that often while its raining but, it seems like its always raining when I'm hunting.
I have never "sighted" in or done any load delelopment while its raining. I do shoot occasionally in the rain but have never tried to shoot any groups. Its usually the NEED to get OUT and SHOOT that gets me wet.
How much does rain affect ballistics.
Not wind just rain.
I'm sure the longer the shot the more affect the rain will have.
Lets just say the average rainy day, not a down pour.

I`ve nothing to back this but, I don`t believe rain has any effect on the bullet. I think the bullet keeps enough of a shock wave or air pressure front going to deflect any rain drops before the bullet can hit them. IMO though........

Wear a poncho like all of our troops did in combat operations and you'll stay dry.

I have thought the same but..... Wouldn't rain affect the air pressure that surrounds the bullet?
Air pressure is a strong thing. Four tires on my truck at 50 psi lift over four thousand pounds easily.
That said, when a rain drop falls in front of the hypothetical air column that surrounds the bullet the air pressure would have to increase to move the rain drop out out of the way. When the air pressure increases to move the rain, the pressure would have the same affect on the bullet.
" For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".
Wouldn't that physical property apply??
