Exactly what I was thinking JD.... For 4500 you could build on helluva nice custom with a pre 64 action.....and have money left over.

Yeah for $1500 you could build one and then put a Swaro on it and get yourself a matching spotting scope!! Too rich for my blood but awefully nice rifle.

I'm thinking of topping it with a Leica ER 3.5-14X42. It'll wear a twenty-four inch barrel. I anticipate that it will duplicate my .280, but I can think of worse things.

Same here. That is a COOL combo...

Your probably right about it duplicating your 280 Mike, but as you said, there are way worse things than duplicating that rifles ballistics.

I am beginning to think all of this 280/284 talk is bad for me. Might have to tune you all out for awhile. I missed out on a 280 Rem Mountain Rifle back in the day and have regretted it a few times each year...
