Son's 7mm-08 speaks again

My little man showed me up good on Saturday morning. This hunting buddy of mine put a 140 AccuBond where it needed to go to take his first deer. Long range shot, but conditions were perfect and he has proven his ability to shoot at longer ranges.

Anyway, a 140 AccuBond going about 2775 fps at the muzzle is good muley medicine. We were loaded up with Accubonds in case we crossed paths with a cow elk while hunting. Otherwise, we would have used the Ballistic Tips that proved very lethal in harvesting antelope.

Congratulations to your son on a fine shot. The 140 AB is a great bullet for the 7mm-08 (and for the .280, the 7X57, the 7WSM or the 7RM), especially when used on deer. That is a fine looking muley for your boy's first deer.

I love to see kids hunting but I hate coming over to the hunting forum anymore, haven't been able to have time off to hunt for the last two seasons. Hazards of starting a new job I guess, the only hunting I'll be able to do is take my daughter to OK to whack a few white tail deer on a buddies property. I missed he taking her first deer last year because of work, hopefully I'll be there to help her take her first buck this year.
