This fall I took a doe and a spike. And let me tell you, in the land of the wolf and the bear (south east Iron Co.) that is not necessarily an easy task. One with my 280 (with 140 Accubonds) and one with my 7m-08 (with 140 Accubonds). Though taken in different hunting areas every thing was identical between the two situations.

Both shots were at about 70 yds. Impacts were tight to the shoulder with one being about 40% up from the bottom of the chest and the other at about 60% above the bottom of the chest. Entry holes were both about 1" and exits at about 1 1/2".

Each animal responded identically with the animal running About 30-40 yds. But hardly any blood trail. Just specks in the snow.

Do you think that the problem was that neither animal had any lungs left and with no lungs you see little blood......  And they did not run far enough for the chest cavity to fill up and leak.

I LOVE ACCUBONDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me it sounds like the ABs did their job.

Look for my "1st Bull Elk" topic on the performance of a 30 cal 200gn AB.

I got no complaints....just had to get you guys blood perkalating if you are just sacking out on Thanksgiving.

Long,

Congratulations on your deer season.
I shot my first AB buck last year. The blod you see in the background was most of the blood trail I had. The picture of the buck is where he died.

Maybe the deer on the West end are thinned blooded.

Congrats to you and both with excellent rounds... May I ask your load for the 7-08? I have yet to shoot any A-bonds from mine.

Happy T-day !

OK you got me. :p :p :p Nice job on the deer.

I knew it would get your hackels up.....it sure would have mine

Powerstroke,
For my rifle, whether with 120 BTs or 140 Accubonds) 48 grains of H4350 with Fed or CCI primers and Win brass. Both shoot under an inch. I know you can go up to probably 50 grains, but did not have good accuracy with that amount.

Just got back from a Montana Elk and Mule deer hunt. Four of us went, all shooting 30/06. Three with 165gr Partitions, one with 165gr Accubonds. All four of us tagged Elk and Mule deer. No bullet failures. Don't have the pictures yet but can give yardages--Elk shortest was 100yds with the AccuBond-DRT, longest was 350yds with the elk running, my son shot four times, hit him three times. First shot would have done the job but as long as he was moving, my son kept putting rounds into the 6x5. Mule deer-longest was 150yds, shortest was 85yds. Three DRT, one made it 50yds. All shots were lasered but rounded off to the nearest 5yds so my old brain could remember them. Fantastic hunt.Rick.

I always enjoy reading bullet performance reports. Great job and good shooting to all!
