I've used the Core-Lokt Ultra quite a bit when it first came out in my .308. How does the Speer DeepCurl compare? Haven't been able to find any tests on these two. I know the 168 grain .308" Core-Lokt Ultra was devastating on whitetails but I'm just curious I guess. Any experiences or tests or anything of that nature? Thanks!

Matt

Matt, I have 0 experience with the CL Ultra, but have recently tried the Speer DC in the 170gr weight in the 30-30. Accuracy is great, but I have not tried them in any kind of media yet. I would almost bet some money they are a great bullet. They are a bonded bullet and seem to be well built with decent BC's. You cannot beat them for the money. I would like to try their 225gr bullet in the 338. Seems pretty close to the 225gr PT in specs and could make a cheaper alternative to the PT and still bee relied upon for most game hunting. I imagine once they start getting in more peoples hands, we will start seeing more tests done. Scotty

Give them a try. Shoot them into some water jugs and post your results.

Scotty, I'm interested in trying those 225s as well. I have used the DeepCurl pistol bullets in my .44 Mag with great results. The price is very attractive.

JD, I'm currently on Fort Campbell training my snipers up for next deployment. Free time is a rarity. I'll attempt to do that when I finally go on leave though.

...article in the Apr/ '11 Shooting Times, "Big Game Bullet Accuracy", where they built .308 rounds as close as possible & fired 'em from a "bench gun", out of 10 bullets tested the 180gr. Deep Curl was "most accurate" (also the cheapest), the 180gr. Remington C-LU was "least accurate", funny thing, as the cost of the bullets went up, accuracy generally declined. I've loaded up some of the C-UL 140gr. .270's for friend's kid, they work. I've used the 120gr. .25 DeepCurls on mule deer, & the 165gr. .308's (.300 WSM) on mule deer & elk, & they work "good"...

That is great intel Gene. I would like to mess with a few of them, just to try them out. I am covered by all Nosler right now except for a few odd rifles. I am not opposed to trying something else though. Scotty

...check the Speer site for "new data", they don't track w/ "standard" bullets, more like TBBC's...

Gene, I checked that out for the 30-30 and it was very similar to other data, but it is worth a look. Scotty
