Anyone play with one of these yet?
They have both the full size and the compact (good luck finding one of those)
I shot one about three months ago and it was a sweet 1911. Accurate as can be. Didn't get to give it real workout, just a couple mags.
Anyone else shoot one or own one?
BTW, the one I "need" currently is the 45, not the 9 (have plenty of 9s)
Thanks!

I have not shot it, but looking one over in a gun shop I was impressed. Appears well made and has all the goodies I "need" on a 1911.

Thanks Guy.
Seemed to get terrific reviews.
They just came out with a compact that also did well.
I'll stick up a review if I can find one nearby.

Springfield has recently came out with the MC models. "Marine Corps Operating" or something to that effect. I saw it on Gun Talk and it looked interesting to me. They have 2 levels a basic and loaded. Might want to look at one.

Years ago I got a basic 1911 from Springfield. Didn't know it was produced in South America at the time.

I had it built into a pretty doggone nice carry pistol. Wilson sights, Brown beavertail grip safety & more. It shot really well and I used it hard, then sold it when I switched to a first year production Kimber.

A few months and a few hundred rounds after I sold it, the slide cracked!

That was a long time ago though, I'm thinking 15 years or so. It was a good shooting gun until the slide cracked.

Hmmm.
Hope they've figured that issue out.
I'm shooting one tomorrow afternoon.
Let you know how it goes.

I have one of their custom shops 1911's that Les Bare built when he was working for Springfield.
I have no idea how many rounds have gone threw this pistol since it was my main center fire pistol I used for NRA Bullseye competition. I still have the 50 yd target that was fire with 185gr Federal target ammo. The group is one raged hole for five shots under 1 inch in diameter and it will still pack them in the center in the hands of the right person. Due to shoulder and back injuries I can't hold it as well as I used to one handed off hand.

I would not be afraid to buy one if I was in the market. I have seen Colt 1911's with cracked frames and slides so it can happen to any 1911. I think I remember when Springfield had that problem and fixed it with heat treating the slides and frames. Most problems occur when you shoot too hot ammo with a light recoil spring and the slide beats it's self and frame to pieces.

So where are the Springfield 1911's made now?

Whew.
That is one nice 1911.
They didn't have a new one in stock so I ordered one.
Accuracy was excellent. Adjustable sights standard, cycled through everything perfectly and shoots where you point it.
I'll stick some pics and targets up in a couple weeks (hopefully?)
Price compared to other pretty good 1911s was pretty good IMO. (around 850)
Really liked the cocobolo grips. Just looked good on the gun.

I don't know anymore.

Dwh7271, congrats on the new pistol. I hope it works out great for you and your shooting!

Regards, Guy

Thanks Guy!
Had to put a 1911 in the stable to keep all those Glocks in line.

My intelligence is a little dated, before I retired three years ago the Springfield 1911 were being produced in south America, assembled here. I bought 60 for the department, they worked just fine.
My go to 1911 is a Springfield TRP. 12 years, lots of ammo, no issues.
