Finally got the .270 stainless featherweight all setup with the new swarovski Z3 in S&K rings and bases and took it to the range.

I took it to the range and this is the target from shots 4 thru 10(first 3 were sighting the rifle) cleaning between all ten. Looks pretty promising already I must have picked a good load to start out with. Oh wait, I just used a $20 box of 130 grain corelokt's. I am guessing it is only going to improve from here when I get to handloading. It just seemed to start zeroing in with every shot getting better and better. I love this rifle.

That is a lovely example of the rifleman's rifle. Seriously, it is a beautiful rifle, and you surely chose a fine scope to mount on it. Congratulations. It will do you proud from those first shots on target.

Nice looking rig, and it looks like it wants to perform.

I gotta try some S&K rings.

There is just something special looking about the stainless & wood M70 FWT! I have a FWT myself but it is the gloss blued version. I am thinking of rebarreling mine and then have the barrel and receiver bead blasted or Cerakoted in matt black. I've got a matt Conquest 3-9x40 on it right now and the matt black just seems to look a lot better.

Good luck with your load development for this one!

Very nice. I looked at one about a month ago and thought, "oh no, this is going to cost me some money." They are very nice rifles. I ended up going a different way when I asked to look at the rifle that sat next to the SS FWT. The featherweight is still most definitely on my wish list. If they brought one out in 35 Whelen, I fear I'd be in a lot of trouble with my better half.

Great set-up and very versatile. Congratulations.

My 270 win loved 130gr accubonds with Hodgon's max load of H4350 and I got 3150fps from a 22 5/8" barrel. It performed great on last years buck to, might be worth working up to.

Now your talking buddy. I hope you find a Whelen you like, I doubt you would ever regret having one. Can't say enough about how much I love mine. Scotty

Very nice rifle. I am a sucker for stainless steel and wood combos. Good luck with load development.

Nice looking setup and it acts as though it will settle down and shoot really well also. I have the 4-12x50 version of that Swarovski scope on my .270 and it is a great scope.

Never met a 270win man that I did not like  Once you get that dialed in with some hand loads I think more than a few critters will become nervous.
Suggestion start with 130gr ABs you will be impressed. Very nice set up!!!

Blessings,
Dan

Beautiful rifle and looks like it wants to shoot. Will be interesting to see what it will do once you start working up loads for it.

I have a FWT in 30/06, blued version, with a 3 x 9 x 40 Conquest on it. Shoots most loads (3 shot groups) under 1 inch and loads it likes will do less than 1/2 in. Had it for 25 years now and taken plenty, plenty deer with it!!!

That is one great looking Featherweight. I keep eyeballing the same rifle in a 300WSM. Seems like one great handling hunting rifle. Scotty
