Well i just got back from my third trip to the range in as many weeks and i have really noticed a lot from these trips. First there really are so many variables affecting standard deviation that it seems almost useless to worry about. I have seen that temp, humidity, barrel fouling, neck tension, minute powder changes and primer inconsistency as well as a host of other things can have an a affect on SD. I do believe i load as meticulously as possible and perhaps more than i should since i do nothing but hunt with these loads. I do believe that the difference in atmosphere from where i shoot to where i hunt is ten fold more critical. I get great accuracy from all of my favorite loads and in fact almost all of my loads shoot MOA or less . I believe that accuracy now days can be attributed to the great reloading components, and info available from the members of this and other forums and also the manufactures. Many factory ammo producers are also making very accurate ammo. This not a paragraph bashing SD but is really a realization to what has already been mentioned by "dubyam" that we cannot shoot enough to get a true sample for SD.
