Started Some Leather Working

next you'll start making bags for your sisters
Funny you say that, I'm messing around with making them a bag right now, but I'm actually trying my hand at working with fabric instead of leather. I learned some hand stitiching, but that is mostly for odd situations. I have to get some basic instruction on using the sewing machine soon.

I like a wallet like this but prefer them tooled.
Do you do any leather tooling?

Vince
I have not done any tooling as of now. I hope to get into it eventually but am not set up with the tools quite yet.

Depending on what you are looking for it might not take much for me to be able to do. With some designs it only takes two or three stamps to make a nice pattern. If you can find any example pictures of the type of tooling you like, I could try looking into what stamps it might take to do.

Unless it’s freehand oak leaf and floral carving I’m partial to small basket stamping.

Here’s my wallet with floral and basket stamping.

I have a leather machine but my hand stitching still looks better

I am not confident in my freehand carving ability at this point, but I could do a basket weave pattern. I put together this pattern in an art tool as an example of what I could do with just a basket weave stamp and a camouflage stamp. Both of those would be very easy to get and I could order them with my next batch of leather.

This is the whole outside of the wallet laid out flat with to scale patterns on it. I went on the stamp websites and got the measurements for the stamps so that they are exactly the same size as they would be for real.

You are going to need a maker’s stamp.
I’ll PM you.
