Now that I finally have my weekends free I find myself able to do some of the shooting competitions that I have been wanting to for years. I signed up and shot my first steel challenge today. It was a blast.

The only handgun I had enough magazines to shoot a full match and a decent holster with was my kimber LW 1911 5” 45 acp.

I did better than I expected, #1 in the single stack division . I was also the only one in the single stack division! I actually didn’t do too badly. I didn’t run my 1911 dry once and that was really my goal. Finished every stage and came in 6th out of 14 shooters.

I’m hooked, already signed up for another shoot in two weeks. I am going to enter two categories for the next shoot, pistol caliber carbine and limited. I’m hoping to have a holster and couple more mags for my recently purchased Springfield prodigy by then.
