Steiner Optics

Never handled them, but those who have handled them always spoke well of them. I'm left with the opinion that their binos are highly regarded, but the rifle scopes are less commonly seen. Those that have used them were pleased with them, however.

Scotty my brother has a pair of Steiner binos.
Pretty awesome glasses as I remember.

Thanks for the comments fella's. I have used Steiner bino's a bit, never a scope though. Wondering if they would be worth the gamble?

If I was on the discount list, I'd pick them up, just to try them. I seem to recall that there are two levels quality for binos--that which is provided to the military (superb) and that which is for the civilian market. However, I never heard anything derogatory about either the binos or the scopes. I imagine they are fine to excellent quality.

The reviews are generally positive.

Darn, thanks for the heads up. Might just take a whirl on it Mike. Seems like a decent enough price I am getting.

I will have to take a moment to read thru the reviews.

Dang! Just read the review on the 3.5-15 on Long Range and it reads like a lot of scope. If your thinking about a Military style scope that would be at the top of the list.

Not sure if this will work on a promotive purchase but it might ? Scotty everything I have been reading says German Glass German Coatings and that is why I was looking at them myself ! They have been in optics forever and I have not heard a lotta negative stuff about them myself ? 30 year warranty is kinda big for any optic!

These Steiner scopes are a joint venture with Burris and are made with Burris mechanical components and Steiner-German glass and coatings. I believe that they are assembled in the Philippines at the Burris plant there. The technical reviews that I have seen for the Steiner scopes were very good and the optical performance is a step up from Burris.

I have no experience with them and the new products which are no longer made in the Philippines.

Update: More information. Burris scopes are now made (again) in Greeley Colorado as they were in the 1970-1990's. All Steiner and Burris scopes are fabricated in Colorado using American labor, parts and assembly. The glass for the Steiner optics is made and coated in Germany and then assembled and tested in Greeley. When Burris quit Redfield and started Burris optics, their products were good quality for that era and were optically equivalent to the Redfield scopes being made in Denver. Apparently the clock has been set back and Burris scopes are again made in the US. Personally, this makes me curious mostly because they are getting good marks from a lot of people who should know good optics when they see them?

Their prices are right up there with Zeiss and Nighforce. I guess that I need some more opinions before risking $500 to $2500 to try their products.

Scott, one of the guys I shoot with sold his khales and bought the steiner 3-15 tactical and loves it, I have heard nothing but positive feedback in regards to the steiner tacticals. Remember the initial sting of the money spent on quality fades quicker than the money forever lost on buying a POS.

I agree a 1000% Jeff. They are just new in the hunting optics world, so there isn't a whole lot of reviews on them yet and it is nearly impossible to get a true side by side comparison on them. They are Swaro like prices, so they must be doing something to ask that sorta coin.

I am testing a Steiner Miltary 1-5
It is definitely a top tier scope.

Great info, would love to hear how it stacks up to the others in the price range.

Do we get a MIL discount on them Top?

I am with Scotty on this one but I feel their quality would be worth their price and I think in Germany they never quit building military optics so I am not too sure if anyone should be concerned with product ? I have been looking at them but I am going to purchase at a higher price point on my next purchase but I think I could live with a Steiner on a rifle in the future! For sure !
