Well he did it. First deer ever. He used his Savage 270 win at about 50 yards double lung. 130 ballistic tip DRT!

Good job my son! Wish I could have been there.

Thank you. He got the deer this afternoon close to Wheatland Wyoming. I had to work so my dear friend took him with his two kids.

Congratulations, Stephan! Some excellent dinner fare provided for the family. Classic cartridge and classic shot, he has every reason to be pleased. You taught him well, Fotis.

270 Win + 130 BT + H4831 = Like Apple pie and vanilla ice cream!

congratulations Stephan! and Pop I know the pride you feel in having taught him what needed to be done! congrats to both of you!

Way to go Stephan! Congratulations to you and your dad.

POP you must be one heck of a teacher, that boy of yours seems to kill everything with that 270. Congrats.

Fotis, congrats to your son! You can't hardly do much better than a 130gr bullet and a 270 Win. He looks like he is ready for anything! I am sure Jack O'Connor is smiling down on him! Scotty

Congrats Stephen
There's just something special about that first one. For you and Pop.
Thanks for sharing the moment.

Great job for your son. The .270 sure is a sweet rifle. I saw you were looking to next year and the little heavier bullet for elk, but my buddy I load for is shooting the 130 gr. Partition in his and has killed several elk without any problems. Great rifle and cartridge!

Well done both of you! Just somthing magic about that first one. Hang in there Pop, you'll be there for another. From the looks of him that wont be the last. CL

Come to think of it I do have several 130 partitions on hand.

I wonder if the 130 Accubonds would work on elk.
I have a buddy here who shoots everything with 130 Corelokts including several elk to boot!

Awesome for Stephan!! And I am sure you were there in ways Pop!!!!

Thanks for sharing.

The 140's worked okay on elk and EXCELLENT on deer! Hard to go wrong with the 130gr PT in the 270 Win though. That gives you alot of classic killing power! Scotty

Well he has a 325 wsm for elk now......

Good point! Almost forgot about that! He will be clubbing elk with that before too long! What is his preferred bullet going to be? Scotty
