This morning the osprey activity was in high gear. Individual birds and pairs of birds were in the air, fishing, flying, diving, perching briefly... I stayed busy! Watched one osprey stay above an eagle and drive the eagle away, all the way to the other side of the Columbia. It's at least 600 yards wide here in town, maybe a half mile in some places.
This one had already eaten the fish head - often the first part the osprey eats - and was flying the rest of the fish back to a nest to share.
It was a good 3.6 mile walk along the river. Maverick got to swim a couple of times. I also photographed a heron, some bright wildflower and more.
