Preparing for my late August sheep hunt and would like to use Nosler bullets in my .300 WSM. Anyone have any suggested loads for the 165 grain AccuBond or Partition? The loads in the Nosler manual seem to be pretty anemic compared to the 180 grains...I thought they'd have more of a velocity difference.

Thanks in advance!

Here are a few loads that have proven good for me across a variety of platforms:

165 Nosler Part, WLRM, 65.5 H4350 (3,047 fps)
165 Nosler Part, WLRM, 65.0 H414 (3,069 fps)
165 Nosler Part, CCI 250, 68.0 W760 (3,100 fps)
165 Nosler Part, WLRM, 52.5 IMR 8208 XBR (2810 fps)
180 Nosler Part, Rem 9.5M, 63.0 VV N550 (3,010 fps)
180 Nosler Part,WLR, 68.0 RL19 (2,978 fps)
180 Nosler Part, WLRM, 68.5 WXR (2920 fps)
180 Nosler AB, WLRM, 64.0 H414 (2984 fps)
180 Nosler AB, WLRM, 69.0 N560 (2905 fps)

I have tried several powders in my Tikka T3 in 300WSM. All shot reasonably well, but I have settled on 65gr. H4350, 165 AB, Win case, F215 for 3135fps and sub moa if I do my part. YMMV. Hope this helps.

...I use Max loads of RL-17, 68grs. for the 165's @3224fps, 66grs. for the 180's @3050fps, they all shoot about like this @ 200yds...

All depends on what powders you have and what powders you can find.

My CZ Model 3 luvs the 165gr Partition and MRP.

My Browning BAR luvs 165gr and 180gr Partitions and Ramshot Hunter.

If I could not find either of these I would go with R-17.

My best friend runs a 300WSM with 165ABs and RL19. I believe he is running 71 grains of it and achieving 3125 with the load. Last time we shot he put up a couple of 2-3" groups at 500 with the load. I was really impressed. Not the fastest load out there but enough that he will be runnig that same load this Fall for elk.

My Tikka T3 Lite S/S loves the 165 gr. Accubonds. The most accurate rifle I've owned using this load.
CCI 250 primers. W/W brass 2.895 OAL 75 grs of Hodgdon Superformance. My chrono shows 3275 FPS
It clover leafed 5 shots at 100 yds. The Superformance load from Hodgdon's Annual Manual is 72 gr. max for 3273 fps with a Partition so I'm 3 grs over but have no pressure issues in my gun and am at the right velocity. If you try this load work up to it as I did.
Good luck on the load and your hunt.

I don't think there is a bad powder for tne 300 WSM. H4350 seems to be the first to try to get a feel for what your rifle will do. RL19 is a goto powder, as are several others, until RL17 showed up. RL17 has given me consistently more velocity, more consitency, and better accuracy than any other powder in several 300WSM's. If you seek adventure with the 300WSM, try the 200gr Partition and IMR4350 at 2900fps. Read the ballistic chart from muzzle to 500yds. For some reason, the sleek boattails don't seem so impressive in comparison. Hmmm.

MG, my old 300WSM would shoot really well with the 200 PT's and RL19, but I was all head strong on making the 200 AB's shoot. Well, they just never came around the way I liked. I had an excellent load of RL19 and 200PT's at 2920.....

Ah well, I think I'll find another 300 sometime down the road anyhow.

70 grains of 7828 (SSC if possible) seems to work in my gun really good. Also, 65 grains of H4350 shoots quite straight, have yet to clock the loads though. My best friend and hunting partner shot a hole in one of my chronographs about a year back and I have yet to get it fixed. He passed away in February, boy do I miss him.
