Taking my girls out.

My wife had a doe tag for the farm. My combine broke down so we made it out this morning. We took our eight month old Payton with us. It was a great time. She was having a blast in her little chair. Then came nap time in the back seat. About the time she woke up we found a small heard of deer. We put the sneak on them and they busted us and took off. Stopping broadside at 280 yards. Earlier that morning my wife busted the 12" 300 yard gong off the shooting sticks, and was pretty comfertable with the shot. At the shot the doe bolted twenty yards and piled up hard. Those 120 NBT sure do a fine job out of that 7-08. I could only find half the heart when I cleaned it. Entered just behind the front shoulder and exited out the center of the far shoulder. Not nearly as much meat damage as last year. But last year was 80 yards and right in the center of both shoulders. So proud of the shot, could not have been more perfect.

My girls, and some meat for the winter.

Jake,

That is awesome. Your bride is one heck of a shot and that picture you her with your daughter will be a family heirloom.
You are living the dream my friend!

Great job and awesome pictures. Next time I expect to see the little gal in a complete camo outfit!! That should be a reminder to us all to make sure that every day we pack our digital cameras with us when we go out. I missed a great photo-op today. She's a good shooter, you better not ever make her mad! You have her and your young one started down the right path though, as they are already starting to become ill with that awful RADD disease. You get them all involved, and then pretty soon the whole family takes part, and isn't that what it should be about. Best darn sickenss ever!

Congrats to the Family Jake -
Those are the best hunts - I get more excited anymore when the wife is shooting, than I do if it was myself.

Those 7-08's are one heck of a round !

Yeah I get pretty excited helping other people out as well. I just love hunting, even if I'm just the spotter/guide.

The more I'm around that little 7-08 the more I'm impressed with it.

Heartwarming account of a great hunt. Congratulations to your lady. Those little girls are just too precious for a dad; but they do grow up. I just got off the phone with my baby (who is now 35).

Jmad,

Man, Simply Awesome!! Great fam time for sure, kudos to your better half...

But,

But,

But who stayed home and fixed the combine?

Rod

Well I would have fixed the combine myself but I didn't have any tools that go up to 2". I blew an O ring in a fitting, and lost hydrolic preasure on my header drive clutch. And the corn was running 34.5% moisture. A bit above the 32% max for the high moisture pit. We'll get it fixed this morning and head to some dry corn. Packing my wifes 7-08 for yotes and maybe a cougar.

Man, those are awesome pictures Jake! I am really happy for you buddy! It looks like a great hunt and anytime the wife and kids can get out is a great time. Good luck getting the corn in. I know this time of the year is probably pretty busy for you. Scotty

Awesome looking ladies you got there. Congrats to you.
Great to see you took them out. :)
