 Just a heads up for some fellow coyote hunters about are recent problems with Moyles Tannery in Idaho, some years back I had some serious problems with them from this respect, Moyles has a bunch of folks working there at the plant that are from south of the border, and of course there must usually be some pretty inexperienced people around there, buffin hides after they are cured,
I sent them some well handled fur that I had taken care of myself before it ever cooled off that were coyotes in fact and then heavily salted them down and dryed them completely before shipping them.
What I got back was interesting ..................... and completely ruined........... :x
The hide was actually nicely tanned a bright white and soft but in many places the person buffing the hide to break it after it was tanned had leaned into the wheel way to much and of course all the hair was missing in all those over buffed spots ruining the hides.......
I vowed to NEVER send them anything again after speaking with the boss he would NOT take any responsibility for the hides and claimed of course that it had to have been my fault in preparing the hides..................... that was total BS of course and I felt he was a shady cat to deal with .
I had a coyote hunter here this spring and he shot a couple of big songdogs with us and wanted me to handle the fur and ship it to Moyles for him. I asked him if he was sure and he said his brother had good luck with them on a raccoon skin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so I shipped them out for him it took 3 times as long to get them back as had I shipped them to USA FOX , and once again we have some nicely tanned Coyotes with the EXACT SAME problem............... spots that are PAPER thin from mishandling at the tannery and of course they would give me the same song and dance as before [2004] so I am not even going to give him the chance to tell me again .
The hunter is devisated of course and is investigating suiing them for the price of the hunt and loss of his property but we all know that would be about impossible to win with MOYLES but this is a warning to ANYONE that sends fur to them , you are taking a huge chance that one of the wetbacks will overbuff your stuff and you have NO RECOURSE......
Good Luck if you deal with them.......... I have shipped HUNDREDS of hides to NEW METHOD and later Pepitone and never had to deal with this problem........... I have shipped all our stuff since 2005 to USA FOX in Minn and am totally satisfied with their work
Heads up :?
