In my Sako 85 Finnlight 243 using 85gn PT at .007" mid load of RL17 shooting thru chrono. Just set box at 30yds to ck speeds. I was curious since I had not loaded 85PT before.
This got me 3075fps and all shots into one nice round hole.
Next load 2 gns more, another 175fps but wow. Shots were all over the place - about 3/4". Grabbed the "mid" load again and two more shots into the same hole as the others. Remember this is just at 30yds to check speeds on this new gun.

I know I can work with the load at 3075fps but getting to 3250 would be nice.
I'm going to push the bullets back to .050" on a few and shoot them again.

Do you think this is a waste of time or is there a chance to settle the group down? I'm guessing this new barrel likes the mid loads for now until more shots get down this barrel.

Son's new Vanguard S2 - 243W: He got a couple of Federal Blue 100gn ammo for Birthday. We broke in the barrel and it's sighted 1" high at 100yds. Performance was as expected. After last scope adjustment 4 shots in about 3/4" (didn't measure).
