The 257 Bee!

With the rifle zeroed three inches high at 100 yards, bullets landed an inch high at 300 yards and dead-on my point of aim at 400. Accuracy was minute of angle (MOA) all the way out to that distance.

That's impressive. Also of note is the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation model that Remington is offering. The 257 Weatherby is alive and well.

Thanks for the link FOTIS

I think I still have one of those round cans which was marked Surplus Powder or something like that under(or above) the H-4831. The first surplus 4831 I used was given to me in a metal coffe can dipped out of a large(55gal?) drum by a gun shop owner.

Just got my new Weatherby Vanguard S2 SS 257 Bee and i am mounting up a Vortex 4-16 x 44 HS on it in Talley LW rings today - i will post pics after and you can Pro & Con it for me  Thks

Cheers :) RJ

My new Weatherby Vanguard S2 SS with a 4-16 x 44 Vortex HS scope housed in Talley LW rings-bases ! Oh Yea and chambered in the 300 WBees's little brother The 257 WBee Mag ! Should make the Ultimate LR yote-wolf-antelope rifle !

Cheers :) RJ

Sweet looking rig RJ  I think it will be before next season and Scotty will have that Ultr Light Mark V 257 slinging some Accubombs  into a 1/4 inch tight hole  I might have to send him some RL22 but it's coming !

Definitely the right cartridge for the critters you envision succumbing to the allure of the .25 calibre pill, Jim.

I just loaded some Nosler 85 gr Blue Tips over RL22 and Fed 215 primers - hitting the range tomorrow ! Aming for around 3700 fps and .50 -.75 " ! :) RJ

Hi Buddy ! Thanks ! My first Weatherby Rifle as my 300 WBee is a REMMY M700 SS ! I think they will shoot OK and they are not expensive - i have some 80 + 100 gr TTSX-ers to try to but i am a NOSLER BULLET FAN above all others - my fav bullet still is the Partition as i have killed 75% of my game with them ! But for this long ranger i need diff bullets then the Part ! :) RJ

That's a slick looking rig.

Jim, that Weatherby looks great! We just zeroed my little brothers S1 257 Wby today. Awesome little rifle!

Scottie what is the vanguard shooting like? What scope?

Next week I get my S2 in 240 Bee.

I'll post up some groups pretty quickly Fotis. I think it's going to be real good though. I wished I would have gotten to shoot a group but we had 20 rounds and my two little brothers were having a blast with it.

G'Day Fella's,

FOTIS, thank You for posting the ST link!
I hope to rebarrel my Rem 700 rifle (currently in .25-06) to .257 W-bee, some time in 2014?
I have the action (see above), reloading dies, 100 x original factory rounds (1956 vintage) and a new MADDCO 26", 1 in 10 twist, #3 profile blank for the job, all I need is the reamer and the time!

Doh!

Thats why he only has a FAKE PICTURE of it !  LOL RJ

Well yeah! Shipping is not same day bro!

I use the 85 BT Noslers's at 3450 fps in my .257 Roberts for varmits and they will kill anything that I can hit for as far as I can see it. I would imagine that the S2 would perform even better with the 85 BT's shot from it!

100 TTSX at 3140 here but 26" tube

Velocity is critical, especially with actions less strong than the MKV. Here is my go to load:
71.3gr RL-22
F215M primers
Norma/Weatherby brass
MV: right at 3740
100gr TTSXs (but the 100gr TSX and Hornady SPs shoot to POI as well):
