Looked like this

Now it looks like this

and does this with factory 200 gr Hornady at 3150 fps

But it does not like the 210 PT load I worked up with the old stock soooooo back to the drawing board!!!!

Nice stock, Fotis. Shoot the 200 grain bullets and be happy!

Will they do OK for elk though?

Some guys out here use the 200 Hornady in their 338/06. I'd imagine theyd be just poison on a high lung shot on any elk! Beautiful stock, btw! You are going to have a tough time shoving that thing in a saddle scabbard, ha! I've only had one 340W, it was in a too light Matchgrade Arms, but it would shoot that 210 XBT over H4350 like crazy! I replaced it with a 338 barrel and used the 185XLC for a big cow. I had two 338 RUMs. I worked up a nice load with the 250 Partition, then gave the rifle to a friend who had weathered a bad storm with a pervert and his little girl. I then had that gain twist 338 RUM on a Vanguard with a super ugly laminated no name stock, used the 180 AccuBond on a huge 32" aoudad. I have to say though, I think I enjoyed working/hunting with the 340W more than the others. I don't have any of those rifles anymore. My 35 WAI satisfies my itch for elk now. Just a thing for me! Just me Fotis, but I'd opt for a tougher bullet than the 200 Hornady out of your 340. I'm betting it would be fierce in a pure rib shot but using the 340, I'd want a little more bullet. Not sure what others you've tried but maybe a 200 AB or another tough 200-225.

Rifle looks great though. It's a great looking rifle.

If you have some 200's you wanna send, I could run them out of my 338 around 3050 to give you an idea of what they'd look like for you.

Dang it, Fotis, you're gonna have me looking for M70 donors again if you keep this .340 talk up...

Most beautiful wood!
Look at the AB or some Barnes. The Barnes are tough and I wouldn't worry about the weight. Heck a 180 grain works on elk. :)

I'd try the 225 and 250 Partitions. Worked in my (Charlie's) rifle back in 2012.

Fotis,

Beautiful rifle buddy and she is a shooter.
The 200 gr at 3150 will hit very hard.

So... Why do you suppose that it no longer likes the 210 gr Partition load you worked up in it?

Same rifle, just a different stock.

Bedding & possible pressure points along the barrel. That's all. Should be easily fixed...

Different pressure point I guess. I can fiddle with it ... I have too many 210 T on hand and I do love the bullet!

The 210 gr PT at 3200 in my 338 RUM is a flat shooting hammer. Your 340 Bee would be very similar.
I sure hope you can get them to shoot.
