The baiting has begun

I think this is the bear I saw tonight. It never came all the way in to the bait. We ran the predator call for about a 1/2 hour and then I went up and took it down. Within a 1/2 hour a cinnamon/blonde bear came in. It's a really cool looking bear. It sat about 15yds from the bait for a few minutes and then spooked and took off. There wasn't a clear shot where he/she sat. I'm going to try and go back up Friday and spend the night on the hill so we can hunt up until dark and then be there at daylight.

That does look like a fine bear. He would be a real coup for you. We're all pulling for you Nathan. He didn't gain any size by rushing into the baits. He does seem to be cautious, and that can be a good sign that he has some size.

Well I just looked at the weather and it's suppose to be 70-80% rain Friday and Saturday so I might try going up on Sunday night instead. It rained on us last night and it wasn't all that fun since I forgot my boots. My feet were soaked in tennis shoes.

We spooked the blonde/cinnamon bear and a small black bear off of the bait last night because we got up there late. We intended to stay until dark. So my buddy has daytime pictures of the blonde/cinnamon bear. I'll see if he can send them and I'll post them up. Where it's really light in the night pictures is blonde and where it's darker is a cinnamon color.

I just put in my application for fall bear. With 6 pts, I should pull a tag for Sept 10. Pretty sure the Marlin 1895 Guide 45-70 will get the call to action.

The black bear is bigger but I really want the colored bear because it has pretty unique coloring. I'm pretty sure it's will come in during the daylight hours too. I think the picture I put up of the black might be the only daylight picture we have unless there is one of him early in the morning. Either way if we stay on the bait for 24 hours straight we should get one or the other if not both.
