The BEST recoil pad???????

I ordered a mercury recoil reducer.... and a slip on limbsaver so I can keep the rifle looking original and use it on the other bees.

Works for me. (y) Your solution is eminently sensible. Plus it is practical.

You might need two mercury recoil reducers to tame the beast.   I have known some who put 2 in trap and skeet guns but they shoot a couple hundred rounds per day also.

For the best balance put one in the fore stock and one in the butt stock. Makes things a little heavy though.
I had one in a rifle and loved what it did for recoil reduction but hated the way it changed the balance. That's when I learned to put two in a rifle.

The best are these Gooey Pads from Trapdude.com

I shoot a lot of Trap and at big shoots I see a lot of them. I personally have a Soft Touch stock on my Beretta DT10 and they are also quite popular but obviously not what you want on that gun.
