Molly's torn tendon will never fully heal. That being said, she is getting around pretty well. We've had four pretty intense training days since I got back from Alaska and she is holding up.
I added Sugar on Tuesday after talking a friend into selling her to me. Sugar spent most of her four years hunting chukar and will need some time to figure out pheasant. They are learning to work together pretty well. IMG_0628.JPGIMG_0629.JPGIMG_0630.JPG
The first group of pheasant hunters arrive this evening. Tomorrow it gets real.

SC, love watching dogs work , I enjoy it more than the shooting of the birds !!

Great photos, thank you for the post!!

Blessings,
Dan

Good to see Molly out working. Nice looking dogs. I'm sure the pheasant hunters will enjoy their hunt.

Sorry to Molly won't heal 100%, Maybe Sugar will take some of the pressure off her.
Great looking dogs.

Wonderful!

Love seeing good dogs work. And, I fully understand about the tendon. I've got one that will never heal either. Puts a little hitch in my walk, and keeps me from running, but I still get out and get things done. Seems that Molly does the same! Good Dog!

So far so good on Molly's conditioning. She is not as fast as she used to be and rather than jumping over barb wire fences she is finding spots to go under. Hopefully she just slows down a little.

Sugar did ok today. Molly is slowed by her bad shoulder but performed with perfection.
I've only owned Sugar for five days I think she'll be hunting well after a few weeks.

I am glad things seem to be working out for Molly, I know when we made the decision to stop hunting my younger Lab when she was only 3 it was sad as she was just coming into her own. She had a complete tear of her right rear ACL .
SC, please keep us updated on those 2 working ladies it is fun to watch them progress.

Blessings,
Dan

We hunted until noon today. Yesterday I hunted Molly in the morning, Sugar in the afternoon. Today I worked both dogs together. Sufficed to say Sugar and I have some work to do so we are on the same page. We made progress so it was a good day. IMG_0645.JPG

with molly talk to your vet about trying prevacox or meloxidyl then if she is still a bit stiff ask about gabapentin

YES that is coming from a vet's worst nightmare (I read it online) but my wife's dog who came in pieces (i think 3 of 4 legs have been broken within his first year of life before she got him) started with previcox, then added gabapentin within the past few years. the gabapenting took him back to probably a year before activity level. recently switched from the previcox to the meloxidyl because the clinic was switching and the meloxidyl is cheaper haven't seen any negatives.

also have him on Hills JD which isn't cheap even at clinic employee pricing program but the meat head is mobile past where we really thought he would be so it's worth it (as long as she doesn't tell me the price haha) he also gets fish oil which I don't think is necessary with all of the other stuff but it's the cheapest part of his meal so I won't complain

Great to hear that Molly is working, even if not 100%. Sugar will not doubt come along in time.
