That's pretty good penetration and performance right there.

Don't know about where you live and hunt but in WV we can use a muzzle loader in the regular firearms seasons. So that is another opportunity to hunt with smoke poles.I missed this post when it was new but still want to congratulate you on getting it done. I own three muzzleloaders, 2 in-line and one percussion, but have yet to harvest my first deer with one. The in-lines are both equipped with scopes but I prefer to carry my Lyman sidelock percussion. The nipple has been replaced to fire musket caps which gives a more reliable ignition with the synthetic powders. If I'm going to own them I need to commit the time but our muzzleloader season starts the day after our nine day deer gun season in Wisconsin and usually I am ready for a break.
Wow, that's a sucky time for ML. After the Orange Army has stomped around the woods for a week or two, the deer are skittish and often nocturnal. Here in KY, there's about a 3-week break between the end of rifle season and the beginning of ML. Allows things to settle down a bit.I missed this post when it was new but still want to congratulate you on getting it done.
