Just starting out loading .264 WM
OAL gauge hit the lands at 3.34”
2.5” case length, (Nosler premium brass)
.677” ogive to bullet base, (SMK 123gr)
If I seat the bullet .264” (recommended by Lee 2nd edition), I end up .427” off lands.
Everything that I’ve read gives .020” off the lands as a good starting point, I’m more than twice that.
Any advice will be deeply appreciated

find the lands and seat the bullet .010 - .020 shorter as a starting point . if that length ammo fits the magazine box . if it doesn't fit , load to magazine length minus .010 , for easy feeding , and start there .

it's early for me , but I don't think your numbers are correct . .427 off the lands is way way more than double .020 off the lands. it's 21 times . if you seat the bullet .264 " and that puts you .427 off the lands , the bullet will be out of the case before you get close to the lands .

As mentioned above , load to mag length. If single feeding isn’t an issue for you , then start 0.020” off and work from there. I have many rifles I single feed.

I agree with what Rick said. Keep in mind that if you are longer than the maximum magazine length, you might be able to load one in the belly plus one in the pipe.

i have a pre64 in 264wm, but never checked what coal could be in the internal mag? i only shot sierra's in it up to 140sbt's @ 3.220" iirc. as mentioned above check mag limit. with 123smk's you should have plenty of room. as far as lands go, i never checked back in the day. only loaded to book/manual specs.
