Given the results of the first term of our President, and the results so far of this term, I’m willing to give this administration the benefit of the doubt.

I am generally happy with how Trumps first term went, and if I didn't spend so much time exposed to the software industry I probably wouldn't know what to think of this, but Trump's previous run as president doesn't really have any bearing on whether or not this particular move is a good idea. If it all turns out fine, which I feel like would only happen if they decide to back out of the idea before the current system becomes irrecoverable, but assuming it ends up OK, dandy. But if this idea fails, it will probably be very difficult rebuilding of the governments technological systems. Meanwhile personnal identification could be thrown for a loop, and I don't even know what we would do about it while we try to rebuild the system. I understand some of the want to upgrade these systems because the people who really understand them well are actually dying off from old age, but the way Musk's team is going about it seems like playing with fire in more than one respect.
