There is no limit...

Dr. Mike, I'm almost at a loss for words and I'd be banned if I could say the words that come to mind. I was born and raised in San Francisco back in 1938 and left forever in 1970 due to what I felt was outrageous gun control moves by the then mayor Dianne Frankenstein, oops, I meant Feinstein. What really is sad is just how many gun owners actually live in that city and I would bet money in Los Angeles and San Diego as well. I would think they'd work toward getting rid of those (expletives deleted) and get their rights back. Guess they just don't care although I do know a couple that do. Problem is, a couple ain't enough. The scary part is they say, "As California goes, so goes the rest of the country." Currently, Arizona is not making the use of monometal bullets mandatory for the Kaibab National Forest north through the Arizona Strip country to the Arizona/Utah Border. Hunters are asked to voluntarily use monometal bullets or if they use conventional bullets with lead to put the gut pile in garbage bags and drop them off at the Game & Fish checkout station. Arizona is so serious about this that they will give a hunter a free box of monometal bullets for reloaders or two boxes of factory ammo of your choice that contain monometal bullets. My wife and I planned to use my .35 Whelens so we got two boxes of Barnes 225 gr. TSX bullets absolutely free. That's a little over $100 retail.
I was asked one time why such a large caliber cartridge just for a Mule Deer. Elk and Bison stray into the area and Game & Fish do not want them there. So if you spot one and have the cash or checkbook handy and are lucky enough to spot one, you get a nice bonus to your hunt. Not sure I'd want to take on a Bison with a 30-06 or .270 but with the whelen? You bet. It's been a few years since I've been up there. Competition for tags is huge. Didn't draw again this year but I'll try again next year if i'm still above ground.

I have seen the writing on the wall when the lower 1/3 of the state were banned from using lead. This is part of the reason that I shoot so many Barnes and E-Tips.

There are numerous people such as myself who would love to oust the "(expletives deleted)." But, there are just as many (probably many more) liberals that vote them in and keep them in office. As a side note, I believe that the vote on the lead ban has been suspended as have almost all of the new antigun/antihunting bills, we or California have a stay of execution for now. I personally have written several letters and made phone calls. Maybe some of the people I have talked to have done the same. Or, maybe the legislature has been watching Colorado. Who knows.

Another thing of note is the amount of people purchasing there first guns. I know of five different women who have purchased their first gun, a hand gun, over the last 3-4 years. We need these new folks more than ever especially all of these new woman shooters.
