Thinking of another .338-06

So according to a web reference, the Model 670 had a two position, remington style safety until 1972 when they changed it to the three position, bolt mounted safety which has always been Winchester's trade mark. It was altogether discontinued in 1979. So therein lays my confusion taylorce my friend. Had to find out if my eyes were playing tricks on me.

I'm happy to hear you aren't as crazy as you thought yourself to be!

I broke down and talked things over with a gunsmith and getting some figures down, there was no way to build this rifle into an 8 lb "all up" rig. I was looking at 9 lbs maybe a little over. So what is a guy to? The search went out again and I found a used McMillan Edge stock that will trim 10 oz so now I'll be 8.5 lbs or less "all up".

Man, 8.5lbs is pretty manageable really. I kinda think anything under 9lbs is okay. Heck, as long as the rifle handles nicely, that is what counts, you can add a few pounds to a nice handling rifle and not be uncomfortable. Sounds like one sweet build though. Scotty
