Mike,

Very nice!
If it only shoots half as good as it looks, you are in the money! Congratulations.

Thor's Hammer weighs fully dressed 9 8/10 pounds. It does not feel like it weighs because it is very well balanced. But I need to be tankful it does weigh this much to help with felt recoil but still not to heavy for me to pack around in the Mountains. I use to carry that 416wby all day every once in a while and it was heavy so this will be just right. It hopefully will be the best compromise of rifle, cartridge and scope I have ever come up with to fit the uses it will be used for.

Looks great! How many MOA is the picatinny Mike?

I bought one for my 300 RUM and it is 20 MOA.

I was always impressed by the .340's numbers. I don't think I'd feel undergunned with that rifle anywhere, anytime!

For 250 grain bullet, I would start with IMR 4831 or H 4831. While fire forming my 338 Lapua Ackley Improved, I happen to load a couple of 250 grain Hornady Interlock, leftover from my 338 Winchester Magnum, using 76 grains of IMR 4831. This is a fire forming load mind you, but I have no problem popping clays at 525 yards. I believe this is the powder for 340.
