Me, Frank and two other friend will be leaving tomorrow for Texas with a brief side trip to Oklahoma. Haven't done any hunting at all this year, so I'm really looking forward for this one.

I will be taking the 300 Bee this time. I feel bad that every time I open my safe, the bee get passed on for another rifle. I could almost hear it begging " please, please take me". So this will be the bee's turn to get blooded.

I have good result with this rifle using 180 grain Barnes TSX, propelled by 84.5 grains of IMR 7828. It's a proven performer up to 500 yards. At least one crow can attest to that. I'm contemplating swapping the 2.5-10 LPS on it with 4.5-14 MK-4, but judging from my experienced last year, I think the LPS will be fine. We shall see.

Yeah, the Bee's are bad that way! Good luck on the hunt. Enjoy the Promised Land. We'll look forward to a full report when you get back.

Texas and "promised land" ?

DF - have a great trip! I'm sure the Bee will treat you right. Going for deer or something bigger? A hunter has a wide choice of game in Texas, from what I've read. Never hunted there myself. I'd think your .300 will handle anything that crosses its path.

Thanks, DrMike. It's way too much gun for a Texas whitetail but there might be porky on the menu.

Guy, We will be hunting deer only but there's a slim chance of hunting pigs.

Good luck DF. Your Weatherby is one awesome shooter. Scotty

Thank you Scotty. I will be using my old standby load, 180 grain Barnes TSX.

That bullet will deliver the goods. I've had excellent success with them in the 300 WSM in the past.

I clocked these babies at 3145 fps, mighty plenty for whitetail but it's very accurate.

A hole through the engine sure deflates a deer (or a moose, or an elk, or ...). Few animals would go very far once they were punched with that bullet at the velocities generated by your Bee.

Good luck on the Texas hunt. Your 300 Bee looks ready to go.

Well, the Bee got it done this afternoon. Story will come later. There's more hunting to come. Here's some pictures.

That was quick!

Nice buck. Congratulations.

LOL, We left Albuquerque this morning after spending the night there and stop by at Gander mountain in Amarillo, Texas to purchase our tag and drove straight to Quail, Texas and hunt. I was dropped at my spot by our host and shoot this deer an hour later.

Congrats on a fine buck. I'm glad you and the Wby. had a sucessfull hunt. That 300 is hard to beat for all around performance. Texas sure has a lot of game of all types. and it's a "kid in a candy store" experience whenever I've been there and I'd sure like to go back someday.
